Your privacy is considered to be highly important by the SCRIPT project and its partners. Some services on the platform require registration for usage; registration involves creating a user account. At registration you are asked for information that personally identifies you. For example, you are asked for an e-mail address, password, your first name and your last name. This personal information is held within the platform database to allow you to log in, personalise the platform to your preference, alter default settings, and post to the forums. It will also provide you with access to other tools and services to be made available to registered users at future dates. All submitted details are completely confidential, will not be shared outside the project, and will not be used for any other commercial purposes.
By supplying your email address on registration to the platform (‘Create account’), or by sending a query to the help desk (‘Contact’), you are giving your permission for us to contact you by email. If you are not happy for us to contact you in this way you can let us know at any time and your email address will no longer be used for this purpose. The data you enter via the ‘Create account’ facility is stored in a secure area of the SCRIPT server, which is password protected. The data is viewed and analysed exclusively by SCRIPT project staff. Your password is not visible to SCRIPT project staff. We will not disclose your data to any third parties, unless we are required to, or permitted to by law, or where you have given us your consent in advance.
We may use technology to track the patterns of behaviour of visitors to the platform. This can include using a "cookie" which would be stored on your browser. Information is recorded in session cookies, which are small text files that identify your computer (not you personally) to our server. The information is recorded when you login to the platform and gives you access to parts of the platform that require you to login. You can usually modify your browser to prevent this happening. Although you may disable cookies on your browser, this may restrict your use of the platform.
Your IP address (internet address of your computer) is automatically transmitted to us by your browser each time you visit the platform. We collect general information on downloads and platform usage such as average duration of the visit and the number of pages viewed. This information is only used for system administration and to provide statistics which we use to evaluate the use of the platform.
